Wedding Wednesdays: Wishing Lanterns

Morning dolls! Happy Hump Day! A few days ago, my hubby and I were watching The Bachelorette and during one of the dates, they lit these amazing lanterns and set them off to float away in the sky. It was absolutely beautiful!  Yes, we watch the show and I am not proud of it. It's so bad we have to watch to see what happens.  I feel horrible for that poor girl.  Don't judge me...does anyone else watch the show too??

I first saw these amazing pieces in The Hangover II and thought it was one of the neatest ideas EVER!  Especially when done in the evening time, the lanterns light up the sky and it's a breathtaking spectacle to see.  So, when I saw them AGAIN on the show, I HAD to blog about it. This is such a popular trend in the wedding world right now.

Wedding wish lanterns are traditionally used in Asia at celebrations throughout the year. Releasing them at the reception symbolizes hopes and wishes of good luck for the future and the floating away of worries and problems. How wonderful...wish I would have known about these for our wedding.

I would love to set a wishing lantern off..
have you done this or will you for your wedding?

This has been a common feature in British weddings for some time now.
I attended a close friends wedding last week and she had them @ midnight an they were released to one of the couples favourite songs!

It was such a lovely sight to see on a Summer night!

My sister and I watched the episode the other night, and I absolutely agree with you on the wishing lanterns! They're just so intimate and fun, and a great way to engage everyone.

I would totally do it for my wedding!

These lanterns are so pretty (all the ones you pictured). Almost magical. I would love to do something like this when I get married.

Have you seen the movie "Tangled"? There's a scene with lanterns in that movie, too (even though it's animated) :) I love it!
