Wedding Wednesdays: BHLDN Decor & Store Opening

via
Hey dolls!  Happy Hump Day!  Such exciting news to share with you about BHLDN.  Remember THIS post I did months ago about them?  Well, they are opening their VERY FIRST bridal store and guess what location they picked?  HOUSTON, TX!!!!  Woot woot!  I HAVE to gloat just a little because Houston NEVER gets first dibs on anything, especially in the fashion world. I know all of you soon-to-be brides living in the vicinity will be THRILLED to hear this and I had to share the great news with you.  I was actually not aware of this until a friend told me about it last weekend. Yes...I am tardy to the party as usual.  So excited to go to the grand opening in late summer/early fall.  For all you other hopeful brides, fret not my dears! I have a feeling they will be expanding soon in a city NEAR you.

Also, have you checked out their decor collection?  One word - WHIMSICAL.  I am not at all surprised they would do this and their collection is nothing short of amazing.  From tabletops to cake toppers, they've got you covered! Check out all their goodies HERE.

Wedding Wednesdays: A Perfectly Pink Wedding

Ok...so today I am also gushing over pink weddings in celebration of Valentine's Day.  Yay!  I love love love pink.  Light pink, hot pink...I love them all.  Not so much because it's "girly" but because of the beautiful hints of romanticism it adds to just about anything especially weddings.  When we had our wedding, the main color was purple for the ceremony, but it actually became the accent color for our reception.  We incorporated lots of creams and light pink to brighten up the room for the romantic theme we wanted. It was perfect.  To my lovely friends and soon-to-be brides: I hope this inspires your perfectly pink wedding. Enjoy!

I Made It Mondays: DIY Wedding Ring Pillow (Book)

Here's another fun and super simple wedding DIY!  When I first started buying accessories for my wedding, I picked out this cute ring pillow (about $20) from Hobby Lobby, which I later returned.  Why?  Well, I wanted to make my own of course!  I searched endlessly for cute ideas and found tons...tons!

One day, I went thrift shopping to look for cheap clothing deals and (secretly) in search of some inspiration for my wedding ring pillow.  Remember THIS post???  Well, I found this amazing book called...of all things...LOVE. It was $1.99 so I had to buy it.

There are SO many ways to differentiate your ring book, but here's what I did.
NOTE: Many brides also cut a circle or heart shape INSIDE the book (like a hole) and place the rings INSIDE the book.  Also a great idea!

WHAT YOU NEED:

- A book
- 1 Yard of Ivory Ribbon ($2.99 per yard at Hobby Lobby)
- Hot Glue Gun (optional) ($2.77 at Hobby Lobby)
- Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:
Tie the ribbon around the book and make a tight knot. I did mine a little lower so the title on the binding would show clearly.

I added lace to give the book some texture and give it a more elegant, vintage feel. I used the Glue Gun to secure it in place. I waited a few minutes for it to dry.  Lastly, I tied a bow (double knot) and that was it!

The best part: it was sweet, a little different, and cost me less than $5.

Wednesday Wedding Tip - Hiring A Videographer

Image via PopVideoHouston

Capturing your wedding is an important decision to make.  Most couples fixate on finding the perfect wedding photographers, but have you considered hiring a videographer also?

We were lucky enough to find our photographers easily, but I had to interview countless videographers before making a decision.  Some of our closest friends regret not having a video of their wedding day to look back at.  Pictures are worth a thousand words, but a video captures the words, expressions, and reactions of that exact moment in time.

Most companies offer packages and discounts if you purchase your photos and video together and vendors are always willing to work with you so don't be afraid to ask!  You will learn the art of bargaining...trust me, I did.

Watch this video from Aisle Dash on Choosing a Wedding Videographer:

Here are a few "terms" to familiarize yourself with:
Cinematic: A style of wedding videography in which the footage is edited to tell a story, similar to a short film.
Digital video: Also called DV. Most wedding videos are now filmed and stored in digital format.
Documentary: A style of wedding videography (also called photojournalistic) in which raw footage unfolds to tell the story of the day.
High-definition video: Also called HD video, this high-resolution option allows wedding videos to be viewed on Blu-ray or DVD.
Outtakes: Footage that does not make it into the final video. This often includes "bloopers" or other missteps that can be fun to include in their own section of the wedding video.
Raw footage: The hours of video filmed by a videographer prior to any editing.
Same-day edit: For immediate gratification, some videographers can compile highlight footage from earlier in the day into a video that is played at the reception.
Short-form video: Most weddings are short form, meaning the length of the video is about an hour or less.
Streaming video: A continuous stream of video that is played on the Internet, rather than downloaded. To share highlights from the day with guests, wedding videos can be streamed on a couple's Web site post-nuptials.

Wedding Wednesdays: Ceremony Programs

A very simple, but elegant look on a single sheet of cardstock.

It's all in the details!  A wedding is just a wedding until you incorporate YOUR own ideas and details into it.  That's what will make your day special.  I've been browsing ideas for wedding programs and came across some great pictures on The Knot to give me some inspiration.  Here are some of my favorite!  I might have to bust open the sewing machine for a couple of these. Woowhoo!

I LOVE this idea!  Something to keep the guests occupied before (and maybe during) the ceremony.
A little more work, but the results are amazing!  This is burlap on the front & back cover sewn together with cardstock.

Resembles a prayer book. Brilliant!  Stitched paper (instead of glue) held together with an elastic band. A wonderful vintage look!
